OUR VISION & CURATION
Artemesia Galerie exhibits modern master-works that evoke sensuality, wildness, spirituality, and The Power of Nature. We look to nurture a community where creatives thrive, and art lovers can experience aesthetic beauty, explore societal questions and problems, and uncover wisdom through art. We are a gallery dedicated to bringing more beauty, grace, and understanding into the world, so we are always on the lookout for art that embodies these values, whether the pieces are 2-D wall paintings, 3-D sculpture, jewelry, clothing, or virtually any medium. We specialize in figurative art, realism, surrealism, fantasy, and visionary art.
OUR INSPIRATION
We believe it is time for artists to recall and reclaim their place as story weavers, truth-seekers, and devout beauty adorers during these unprecedented times of isolation and fear. We believe it is a significant time of rebirth for the arts with new technology. We need art now more than ever. Who else will be a mirror for the times but an artist? Who will imagine inspirations for scientific discovery? Who else will communicate visually with extra-terrestrial life forms?
At Artemesia, we collaborate with artists from around the globe to create a visionary temple where wisdom can be revealed to all of us through art. Artemesia represents the powerful ideals of the long-repressed Dark Goddess’ wild potency. Artemesia’s meaning can be translated as, "Gift of Artemis," who was the Greek goddess of nature, animals, the hunt, young women, and fertility. Artemisia Gentileschi, a 17th-century Baroque female artist far ahead of her time, exhibited her work without pretending to be a man. The patriarchal values of the time did not allow for her to become as widely known as she is today. She is posthumously recognized by feminist writers to be an important figure in Baroque art. Artemesia is also a genus of plants that includes mugwort and wormwood both of which are "witchy" herbs thought to have healing and hallucinatory qualities. Wormwood is found in absinthe, also known as, “the green fairy.”
We raise a glass and invite you to join in our celebration of the visual arts.
