Artemesia Galerie and its artists are donating 10% of all art sales from our latest exhibition to Amazon Watch, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Amazon rainforest. Rainforests sustain us. They help regulate the global climate and are vital to maintaining the earth’s fragile balance. The Amazon rainforest is the world’s largest and most biodiverse tropical rainforest, covering an area larger than the continental United States. It houses one-third of the Earth’s plant and animal species and produces one-fifth of all its flowing freshwater.

Pachamama, translated as “World Mother” is an Andean earth goddess who is creatrix of all life with the power to preserve and nurture all living things, but she also has the power to end life and human existence when human beings take without giving back to her. Many indigenous peoples of the Amazon region view our planetary climate crisis as a harbinger of Pachamama’s discipline yet to come for human abuse of the gift of life.

Life on planet Earth for humanity is precarious. There is only one time to nurture and restore the fertility of the planetary being that gives us all life, and that time is now.
